HENRO NECESSITIES (and, what did I bring?)
As I mention below, I, and most Nojuku Henro tend to be minimalists when it comes to 'temple' gear. Though most nojuku henro I met did not wear whites and a conical hat, they were pretty scrupulous about carrying essentials like: candles, incense, sutra books, and always a KONGO TSUE of some sort. I carried precisely the above in temple goods. Also I did carry a little cotton bag for keeping NOKYO-CHO, incense, candles and sutras.

There is much written regarding Henro goods. This almost always refers to the traditional SUGE KASA conical hat, the KONGO TSUE walking stick which is also the embodiment of the Daishi, the NOKYO CHO where you collect temple stamps, the white shirt, and other Henro goods sold at and around the temples. I will leave that to David Turkington who covers it explicitly and quite well in his text. I'll write here about the nojuku necessities.

Every nojuku henro is different, but this is my definitive list of NOJUKU HENRO NECESSITIES:

MY LUXURIES (certainly not necessary — though indispensable to my happiness)

Somethings other henro had, but I did not:
